Plastic Free Plymouth

The Plastic Free Plymouth Campaign

Were you inspired by Blue Planet II? We were ! For the last four years we’ve been working with Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Communities project to gain Plastic Free Community status for the city.

We achieved the status for the Waterfront area in June 2018 ad then went on to gain citywide status a year later in June 2019. We still work closely with SAS and with the citywide Plan for Plastic to tackle single-use plastic; working until March this year (2023) with the Interreg funded Preventing Plastic Pollution project.

We’re now ready for the new Government bans on certain single use plastics that will come in to effect on 1st October 2023. If you work in hospitality, tourism or the takeaway sector you might need to read up on this as that’s where the bans are focused and we don’t want anyone to get stuck or, worse still, find themselves being fined. Download our new Guide from https://environmentplymouth.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/FINAL-GUIDE-TO-THE-SUP-BAN.pdf

This page provides all you’ll need to find out what the new bans are all about……including the Guide we have produced. It also links to the pledge form we’d love you to sign up to, details of our new Rewards scheme, forthcoming  workshops and events and links to both the SAS campaign and the Plymouth Plan for Plastics.
